Artisan v3.1

Artisan v3.1 comes with renewed Bluetooth and MODBUS infrastructure and adds quite some additional device and machine support.

THANK YOU!

The Artisan project runs on donations from individuals and companies recognizing the value of Artisan for their customers, work or leisure. Consider supporting this project with your donation, or even better, purchase an artisan.plus membership!

This release is sponsored by Algrano, the direct way to trade coffee.

Again the majority of the costs have been on the shoulders of Marko & Paul who created the artisan.plus service to provide a financial basis for the Artisan project.

This summer we worked together with the teams from Santoker, Primo Roasters and Sweet Coffee Italia on adding support for their current machines to Artisan. Thank you for supporting the Artisan project!
If you want to become a machine sponsor and like to have your machines being well supported and promoted by Artisan, please contact us!

This release as all previous releases was supported by Buckeye Coffee Roasters. A big thank you from the Artisan community for your ongoing support. Compliment!

What's New?

The Artisan v3 series is going strong with more than 20k downloads! However, there is always room for improvement.

Renewed Bluetooth and MODBUS Infrastructure

Among many minor improvements and fixes, this release adds a renewed Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support, which now better supports Windows and Linux. This not only makes the Acaia scales connection accessible on those platforms but also allows support for other devices like the newer Santoker roasters and the ColorTrack modules, which communicate via BLE. The MODBUS layer of Artisan has been shifted from synchronous to a modern asynchronous implementation that helps to heal communication issues, especially over weaker serial lines.

Additional Device and Machine Support

The latest machines from Santoker, like the Cube, do connect via Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi like the previous generation. Artisan now supports all variants of Santoker roasting machines and also takes control of most of them.

This release adds support for the novel electric machines from Sweet Coffee Italia. Not only do they feature innovative induction heat, they also report energy consumption back to Artisan.

The full range of fine roasting machines from Primo, like the Genesis-Xr3, Ranger-Xr5, Raven-Xr15, Sentinel-Xr20, and Warden-Xr30, are now also supported by Artisan.

We updated the Phidget device support, adding control commands for their Stepper Motor Controller and also added an importer for Stronghold XLSX profiles like those on Square.

artisan.plus: new look, extended scheduler, Algrano integration

The just-introduced roast scheduler has already gotten its first extensions, now featuring monthly and yearly overviews, recurring schedules, and other improvements. All that in a fresh 'rounded' look.

Finally, we are proud to announce our latest Bean Supplier Partner integration. We worked together with Algrano to allow the import of their detailed bean descriptions with just one click on purchase. Of course, we will not stop there and hope to soon integrate their personalized CO2 emission estimates per kg green coffee you purchased with the CO2 emission estimates we calculate per roast such that we soon can provide you with an as accurate as it can get picture of your emissions.
